And this is why those tall boots are so important…
My daughter and I shot this little video during our nature walk yesterday (watch the tree trunk). It’s interesting at a distance, but we maintain a firm rule on the distant location requirement.
Save your nonvenomous speeches. That may be true in this case (and it looks like an eastern coachwhip so it probably is harmless to everything but our sanity), but we have multiple venomous varieties as well.
One last little personal note to my new tree-climbing pal the snake – What the heck dude??? Couldn’t you have just stayed on the ground like every other snake that still managed to creep us out without scaling large stationary objects that we also like to scale? Why show off those mad climbing skillz? You have made trees terrifying for me. Trees dammit! You know – those overgrown plants that made me so very happy up until the exact moment you came along! Now every time a branch grazes my arm in the woods, I am going to react like I’m the star in a dorky live reenactment of the tomb scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Thanksssss. Jo

Snakes are the one thing I’m afraid of regardless because I have zero…*zero* knowledge of what’s what! I know we have the Massasauga Rattler here…so, this means every snake is now a Massasauga Rattler. I’m not down to fight the man that way 😲😲😲
Jul 24, 2017 @ 13:44:25
Lol – yeah I was not happy to see this in the yard by ours. Call me paranoid, but I just feel like he won’t recognize the invisible boundary I have established. Over there – ok. Over here – oh hell no.
Jul 24, 2017 @ 17:54:32
Snakes are NOTORIOUS for not minding invisible boundaries!! 😂😂😂
Jul 24, 2017 @ 17:02:22
Argh don’t tell me that!
Jul 24, 2017 @ 16:48:03
Can you imagine what the snake was thinking? “Aw man, I was just hanging out here on my sunspot and these things with legs came by. What the are legs for anyway? They seem like needless appendages to me. But here they come and because the legs are so icky I am forced to retreat to my home. I’m not coming out till those legs “walk” away. Ewwww, legs!”
Jul 24, 2017 @ 16:59:23
Lol well we can agree to not scare each other if he stays away from our yard!
Jul 24, 2017 @ 18:31:03
Haha, that doesn’t seem like to much to ask, does it?
Jul 24, 2017 @ 18:23:00
👁️ think not! 😉
Jul 24, 2017 @ 17:50:31
Hey Jo, these things can be really scary, trust me. Just like you said, “What the heck dude???” Take care dear. My regards to your daughter too.

You have such amazing/interesting/unusual/fun/great/wicked adventures. I love it.
Jul 25, 2017 @ 07:52:39
Ah thank you. At the rate we are going, I’m surprised the snake didn’t offer me a delicious yet forbidden apple to nibble on while we filmed. 😉
Jul 25, 2017 @ 08:57:24
isn’t temptation wonderful?
Jul 25, 2017 @ 08:07:01

Oh gosh, how creepy is that?! Snakes are fascinating, but if I saw this in real life, I’d be so outta there!
By the way, I nominated you for the Real Neat Blog Award 🙂 No pressure to participate, though! Here it is if you’d like to check it out. Real Neat Blog Award

Ireland was full, so we had to stay in Texas. 😉
Jul 27, 2017 @ 19:09:07
Lol 😂😂😂
Jul 28, 2017 @ 11:44:30
I do love personal wildlife picture’s and photo’s shared by bloggers I Follow, as for that snake! We have no ‘big’ wildlife in England and if I saw that snake coming down a tree I’d have to change my boxer shorts!
Jul 28, 2017 @ 12:08:22
If you would like some, I’m sure we have extras we can mail your way. However you might want to mention it to customs before they double check the package. 😉
Jul 28, 2017 @ 15:12:41
Haha that’s clever 🙂 a catch 22 if ever I read one!
Jul 28, 2017 @ 15:07:40
lol
Jul 29, 2017 @ 01:40:13
Omg so scary. We had one in our building complex. It was a cobra. We were scared it would come out of the pipes at night. Luckily the snake conservatory department came and caught it and released it in the forest
Jul 29, 2017 @ 07:25:29
A cobra!?!?! Night. Mare. If you tell me about a tiger at some point, I’m going to flip out. Craaaaazy!!
Jul 29, 2017 @ 08:56:19
Hahaha, there are no tigers in the city, a leopard is a different ball game, we have a forest area in the middle of city which was initially outskirts but due to so called civilization this forest area is kind of in the city. There are leopards there, the forest officials do try their best to conserve them. But you know human nature, encroaching on the animals’ land has caused it to start encroaching on ours so… Leopard attacks are know. That episode has come on Nat Geo too
Jul 29, 2017 @ 08:51:18
Seriously? I believe you of course. We have alligator issues here. And snakes. And wild hogs. And coyotes. But I think leopards pretty much win the scary animal game (if tigers aren’t on the list). 🐯🐆🐊🐍🐍🐍🐍
Jul 29, 2017 @ 08:53:46
No tigers guaranteed. But snakes and leopards are seen more on the outskirts. But we found one baby cobra in the building premises. I had the video of it being caught… Hahaha
Jul 31, 2017 @ 11:39:35
I simply would had a heat attack and died. Boots or no. Done, heat failure, and wet my pants at the same time! I am a bit TERRIFIED of snakes… can you tell?~K. HA!
Jul 31, 2017 @ 10:41:13
If this phone did not have a serious zoom feature on the camera, it would not have a snake video on it either!
Jul 31, 2017 @ 10:43:38
HAHA… still, I would have run screaming at the top of my lungs! I mean serious zoom to me would be in the next county! ~Kim. Brave woman you are!
